Appointing a Chief Growth Officer to scale Qwoted’s marketing engine

Our specialist marketing recruiters were introduced to public relations and communications platform, Qwoted, to support the engagement of a Chief Growth Officer.

Having stayed in close contact with the team over the years, 3Search was engaged when Qwoted required senior Go-To-Market talent in the US.

Appointing a Chief Growth Officer to scale Qwoted’s marketing engine

The story of Qwoted

Qwoted is a fast-growing platform connecting journalists with industry experts, helping brands secure high-quality media coverage.

As the business scaled, the leadership team recognised that continued growth required a more structured and strategic approach to marketing, moving beyond founder-led activity to a fully developed Go-To-Market function.

Challenge: Transitioning from founder-led marketing to a scalable growth engine

Initially, Qwoted was looking to hire a Marketing Director to turn marketing into a predictable growth lever for the business. The goal was to bring in a senior operator who could:

  • Own the end-to-end marketing function
  • Develop positioning and demand generation strategy
  • Improve pipeline quality and revenue alignment
  • Enable the sales team with stronger messaging and tools

The broader challenge was shifting from fragmented, reactive marketing to a cohesive, scalable growth strategy.

Qwuoted were initially hiring for a Marketing Director, but as the process evolved, the calibre of candidates introduced led the business to rethink the role.

Solution: A targeted search

Specialist marketing recruiter, Jason Goodwin, ran a targeted search, focusing on proactive headhunting rather than inbound applications. The process included:

  • Pressure-testing and refining the brief with leadership
  • Mapping the US market for senior marketing and growth leaders
  • Approaching passive candidates with relevant experience
  • Delivering structured shortlists with clear rationale

Jason acted as a strategic partner throughout the process, adding value by:

  • Clarifying success criteria for the first 12–18 months
  • Helping distinguish between “nice to have” and non-negotiable requirements
  • Providing ongoing market insight on compensation and candidate availability
  • Managing a structured and transparent hiring process
  • Acting as an advisor on trade-offs between strategic and hands-on profiles

As the brief evolved, we recalibrated the search in real time, presenting comparative candidates to help the leadership team refine their decision-making.

Jason also managed candidate engagement closely, ensuring momentum was maintained and expectations were aligned on both sides.

Result: Appointing a Chief Growth Officer

The partnership resulted in the successful placement of a Chief Growth Officer, upgrading the original brief based on the strength of the candidate identified.
