The Role
We’re looking for a skilled Bid Writer to join our client's Business Development / Pre-Construction function. You’ll be producing persuasive, compelling bid documents that help win new business. Working closely with technical, estimating, design, operations and commercial colleagues, your words will make a real difference in securing contracts.
  
This is a hybrid role based in Newcastle, combining remote working with regular attendance in the office / site as needed.
  
Key Responsibilities
  • Research, write, and edit high-quality content for proposals, tenders, PQQs / PQs, ITTs, framework bids etc.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (design, technical, operations, estimating, commercial) to gather and shape content and ensure accuracy.
  • Analyse client / tender requirements and evaluation criteria to tailor responses (win themes, value propositions) effectively.
  • Maintain and develop a library of case studies, standard content, templates, boilerplate copy for reuse.
  • Manage bid content timelines, ensuring inputs are gathered, drafts reviewed, proofread and submitted on time.
  • Ensure consistency of style, tone, branding, layout and compliance across all submissions.
  • Support continuous improvement: capture lessons learned from bids won and lost, refine content and processes accordingly.
  • Occasionally assist with visual or presentation elements that accompany written bids (e.g. graphics, slide decks).
  
About You
You’re likely to have:
  • Proven experience as a Bid Writer or in a similar role, ideally in construction / modular / engineering / regulated sectors.
  • Strong writing, editing and proofreading skills; ability to translate technical detail into clear, persuasive narrative.
  • Good understanding of procurement / tendering processes (PQQ / ITT / framework etc.), and what clients are looking for.
  • Ability to manage multiple bids / deadlines, prioritise effectively, and work under pressure.
  • Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and an ability to follow-up / chase inputs from others.
  • A collaborative working style; able to work across varied teams and with different stakeholders.
  • Good communication skills; both written and verbal.
  
Desirable (but not essential):
  • Experience of bid / tender portals.
  • Familiarity with brand / document design / presentation tools.
  • Some exposure to regulated environments or compliance-driven sectors (e.g. healthcare, life sciences).
