Hiring Keycraft's first Amazon specialist to support its next phase of growth

The story of Keycraft

Founded in 1975, Keycraft began as a trusted supplier of quality pocket money toys to high street gift shops. Since then, they have progressed to supply a global customer base from tourist attractions to the high street market, and from the individual retailer to the distribution centres of multi-chain organisations. With offices in USA, Canada, Australia, Hong Kong, France, Italy, Ireland and headquarters in the UK, Keycraft is now a global operation.

At a pivotal stage in its growth, Keycraft made the strategic decision to internalise its Amazon capability. Having previously relied on external agencies to manage the channel, the business wanted dedicated expertise focused entirely on its Amazon account. This marked a significant shift in how the company approached one of its key growth channels, creating a need for specialist talent capable of owning and developing the function internally.

Challenge: Building an in-house Amazon capability

Historically, Keycraft had outsourced its Amazon activity to external agencies. As the importance of the channel grew, the business wanted an individual whose sole focus would be driving performance on Amazon, rather than receiving only a portion of an agency team's attention.

The challenge was identifying and securing a specialist with the right combination of Amazon expertise, commercial understanding and cultural fit to become the company's first dedicated hire in this area.

Solution: True Amazon recruitment expertise

Patrick Murray was asked to support Keycraft on the recruitment on this role. Patrick has built a strong reputation within the Amazon and wider ecommerce recruitment market, with a highly established network of Amazon professionals and deep market knowledge.

Patrick delivered a targeted search focused on experienced Amazon specialists capable of taking ownership of the function internally. When the search stalled at the final interview stage, he worked closely with the client to reassess requirements, recalibrate the search and quickly introduce an alternative candidate.

Balancing pace with rigour, Patrick accelerated the latter stages of the hiring process and maintained momentum throughout, ensuring the business secured the talent it needed without prolonged delays.

Result: Specialist Amazon team established in-house

Keycraft successfully hired its first in-house Amazon specialist, establishing dedicated capability within the business for the first time.

The appointment helped support the company's continued expansion, with the business going on to achieve significant growth following the hire.
