Our sales recruiters supported the eLearning platform, LessonWise, with the early hire of a Sales Executive for their London office. As the business entered an important growth phase, they looked to establish its sales presence in the UK capital.

The story of LessonWise

LessonWise is a fast-growing education business, delivering smarter tutoring and mentoring to over 8,000 learners across the UK. As demand increased, the leadership team identified the need to build a dedicated sales function in London to convert inbound interest and support long-term revenue growth. 

Challenge: Making a vital early hire in a small, growing team

With a strong mission and a people-first culture, LessonWise needed more than just sales experience from their hires. They were looking for someone who could sell with empathy — listening carefully, understanding individual needs, and representing the brand in the right way. 

This was a new role within the business and a foundational hire for the sales function. LessonWise needed an experienced B2C Sales Executive. Because of the size of the team, personality and cultural alignment were just as important as commercial capability.

Solution: A people-first, consultative recruitment process

Sam Church worked closely with LessonWise’s Chief Revenue Officer, running a structured but highly personal recruitment process. We screened a wide pool of candidates before progressing a small number through two to three interview stages, ensuring every person considered had both the right experience and the right mindset. 

Throughout the process, we maintained weekly check-ins with the CRO, keeping communication clear and momentum strong. We also advised on compensation and bonus structure, helping LessonWise position the role competitively while aligning incentives with long-term growth goals. 

By focusing on both skill and personality, we ensured the final hire would not only perform well, but also strengthen the team dynamic. 

Result: A strong first step in building the sales function

The successful candidate marks the first of what is expected to be several hires as LessonWise continues to scale. This role will play a key part in converting inbound demand, building early customer relationships, and laying the foundations for a high-performing sales team. 

With the right person in place, LessonWise is now well positioned to grow revenue without compromising on culture.
