Our partnership with wealth management firm, Rathbones, began following their merger with Investec Wealth & Investment Management - one of our longest-standing clients. Given our existing partnership with Investec WIM and close relationship with Rathbones’ Marketing Director, we were engaged to support the newly combined business as it reshaped and expanded its marketing capability. 

Since the merger, we’ve worked closely with Rathbones to recruit a range of newly created roles across marketing, digital and content.

The story of Rathbones

Rathbones is a leading UK wealth manager, helping their clients plan and invest for generations. Working with charities, trustees, and professional partners, they take a truly personal approach to financial planning. 

Following the merger with Investec WIM, Rathbones entered a period of organisational change. As with many integrations of this scale, the marketing function needed to evolve quickly. Our specialist financial services marketing recruiters supported the business as they onboarded newly created roles. 

Challenge: Building specialist capability during a period of change

Many of the roles we recruited were newly created, designed to strengthen specialist areas within marketing. Since 2025, we have supported Rathbones with the following hires: 

  • Marketing Operations Manager 
  • Senior Marketing Executive (Webinars & Nurture) 
  • UX Copywriter 
  • Asset Management Marketing Manager
  • B2B Campaign Execution Manager 
  • Green Bank Marketing Executive (FTC)

There was no one-size-fits-all approach to this project, with each role needing careful scoping, stakeholder alignment and market insight. Each brief came with its own challenges.  

In some cases, the scope of the role evolved mid-process. For example, a Webinar Executive role later shifted into a broader Senior Marketing Executive position. Our specialist marketing recruitment consultants were on hand every step of the way. 

Solution: Close partnership, adaptability and consistency

Given the complexity and volume of hiring, our approach centred on regular collaboration and constant calibration. We held weekly check-ins with hiring managers, gathering detailed feedback at every stage to ensure we fully understood what was and wasn’t working. 

This allowed us to: 

  • Adapt searches as role scope evolved 
  • Refine candidate profiles based on real-time feedback 
  • Balance speed with quality across multiple concurrent mandates 
  • Maintain momentum and confidence during longer searches

Our long-standing experience working with Investec WIM meant we already understood the standards, pace and expectations of the organisation. 

Result: A strengthened marketing function post-merger

All roles were successfully filled, providing Rathbones with a more robust, specialist marketing team aligned to their new structure. By partnering closely with stakeholders throughout the process, we ensured each hire added long-term value.
