We began working with innovative travel app, Seatfrog, when their fractional CMO suddenly needed an interim marketer. To cover an unexpected gap in the team, Taylor Nash delivered a shortlist of three great immediately available candidates.

The partnership ultimately resulted in the engagement of an excellent Interim Product Marketing Manager who would eventually move into a permanent role.

Appointing an Interim Product Marketing Manager at Seatfrog to maintain momentum during a critical transition

The story of Seatfrog

Seatfrog is a fast-growing travel technology business working to reinvent the experience of catching a train. Having grown to over 1.5 million customers, the business had just engaged a new Product Marketing Manager to help continue scale. Unfortunately, their start date had to be pushed back, creating an unexpected gap in the team.

Challenge: Maintaining product marketing continuity during an unexpected gap

Seatfrog faced an unexpected resourcing gap when a permanent hire was forced to delay their start date. As a result, the business needed immediate senior product marketing cover to avoid disruption, initially anticipating an eight-week requirement.

The challenge was twofold:

  • Securing a high-calibre interim quickly in a competitive market
  • Navigating temporary hiring for the first time, with limited internal knowledge of IR35, day rates and temp processes

Without the right solution, there was a real risk of slowed delivery and loss of momentum within the marketing team.

Solution: A trusted contract recruitment partner

With limited time and internal experience hiring temporary talent, the CMO wanted the entire process to be managed externally. Having partnered with them in the past, they trusted our recruitment team to deliver.

Taylor delivered a highly targeted interim search, focused on immediately available, senior-level product marketing talent. Within days of the brief, she presented three strong candidates who were able to start within a week. The process was intentionally streamlined, with a single-stage interview structure to support rapid decision-making.

Additionally, as their first temporary hire, Taylor acted as a strategic partner throughout the process, guiding Seatfrog through every aspect of temporary hiring, including:

  • IR35 considerations
  • Day-rate benchmarking
  • Process education

Result: An excellent hire, ultimately transitioning into a permanent member of the team

The successful candidate was initially hired on a short-term interim basis, which extended multiple times, and ultimately transitioned into a permanent role.
