The story of Spacemade

Spacemade is a fast-growing flexible workspace business, reshaping how modern teams work, connect and collaborate. With locations across the UK and a community-centric approach, the business has continued to scale its offering at pace. 

Our relationship originally began two years earlier, when we first connected with their Head of People. Although there was no immediate requirement at the time, Spacemade were clear that they wanted to work with a specialist marketing recruitment partner when the right moment arose. That moment came in 2025. 

Challenge: Hiring a full-funnel marketer in a fast-paced, scaling environment

When a gap opened up in the team, Spacemade’s Head of Marketing identified an opportunity for growth. Rather than hiring like-for-like, they needed someone who could own the entire marketing funnel and not just growth marketing.  

Spacemade required a marketer who could confidently operate across top-of-funnel brand building and bottom-of-funnel demand generation. The brief was unique: a true generalist with seniority, strategic capability, hands-on experience, and the ability to lead and develop junior team members. 

Key requirements included: 

  • 7+ years’ marketing experience with strong full-funnel fluency 
  • Generalist skills spanning brand, growth, and acquisition 
  • Proven line management capability 
  • HubSpot experience (or similar CRM) 
  • Ability to work through ambiguity and shifting priorities

The hiring team needed a specialist partner with a strong network in marketing, making 3Search an obvious choice. 

Solution: A collaborative, insight-led search

This particular brief required a deep understanding of the marketing landscape and property industry. Lucy Austin-Hannaford has spent her career building both the expertise and network, and so Spacemade chose to partner with Lucy and the team.  

The search for a full-funnel marketer required a close partnership between Lucy and the Head of Marketing. They refined the brief together, adapting the search criteria based on real-time market feedback, and ensuring the process remained efficient and well-aligned.
