Our partnership with Yapily, leading open banking infrastructure platform, began in 2024. The business had just appointed a new Head of Marketing, and they were beginning to build a marketing function capable of supporting their next phase of growth. 

Jaemien Serrano and team worked with them to make their first two hires – a Marketing Manager and a Content Marketing Manager – before supporting specialist sales and product marketing hires, too.

The story of Yapily

Founded in 2017, Yapily is Europe’s leading payments and open banking infrastructure platform, operating in a fast-moving, highly technical payments and FinTech environment. As the business continued to scale, the newly appointed Head of Marketing was tasked with building a capable, agile marketing team from the ground up. 

Challenge: Building a new marketing team with the right balance of skills

As with any scaling brand, getting new hires right is critical. In this case, each role needed to combine strong FinTech experience with hands-on execution, while fitting seamlessly into a collaborative, fast-paced culture. 

Yapily needed a specialist FinTech recruitment partner who could move quickly, understand the nuances of marketing in the payments world, and provide guidance as the team structure evolved.  

The initial brief focused on hiring the Head of Marketing's first roles: 

  • Marketing Manager 
  • Content Marketing Manager 

As the function evolved, additional needs emerged: 

  • A Product Marketing Lead (contract) to support an urgent capability gap and allow the business to test the role before committing permanently 
  • A German-speaking Business Development Representative, supporting growth in European markets

The team needed confidence that every addition would strengthen momentum.

We worked closely with Yapily’s Head of Marketing to shape each brief. For the permanent hires, we delivered carefully curated shortlists of FinTech marketers with strong technical grounding and proven payments experience.  

When an urgent product marketing need arose, we moved quickly to source a Product Marketing contractor, filling the role in under a week without compromising on quality.
